Experience the majestic beauty of hundreds of islands
This flight takes off over Broome giving a clear view of China
Town and proceeds onto Dampier Peninsula. The peninsula is
of historical interest for both its aboriginal heritage and
its pastoral history.
Descending over King's Sound gives a clear view of the mighty
Fitzroy River. It is claimed that in the wet season the water
flow down this waterway is greater than any other river system
on earth.
As the plane descends, hundreds of the thousand islands in
the Bucaneer Archipelago appear. It is advisable to take a
large quantity of film as the sights including many pearl
farms make wonderful subjects for photography.
Not the least of these photo opportunities is the Horizontal
Waterfall. This phenomenon is caused by rapidly falling tides
that trap water in a lagoon formed by a ring of islands. The
result is a wide expanse of white water resembling a waterfall
on the horizontal plane.
Flying on to Talbot Bay hundreds of lines of pearl shell belonging
to the famous Paspaley Pearling Empire can be seen.
Weaving his way through islands, including the ex-mining sites
of Cockatoo and Koolan, the pilot sets course for Cape Leveque
where, after landing in this romantic spot, morning, tea is
served.
At Cape Leveque you are free to bathe in temperate, turquoise
waters or just sit under a tree and admire this tranquil paradise.
Points of interest on the return journey include Beagle Bay
and Lombardia aboriginal communities, once mission stations.
This is an eco-adventure never to be forgotten.
